Total hip replacement surgery has been one of the most common and successful procedures in Orthopedic Surgery for treating patients crippled with arthritis of the hip joint.
Total Hip replacement surgery involves removing the damaged ball and socket of the arthritic hip joint. The top part of the thigh bone (femur head) is either removed and a metal implant fits within the central canal of the femur (conventional total hip replacement) or femoral head is reshapened and a metal cap fits on it (resurfacing total hip replacement). All the cartilage along with some bone is then removed from the socket (acetabulum), and a new socket is fixed in its place. This newly replaced ball and socket joint gives new joint and allow painless movement.Find Out More
Total Knee Replacement surgery has been designed for people whose knees have been severely damaged by diseases (like Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, post traumatic arthritis, etc.) regardless of the cause of damage.
During the surgery, the damaged joint is replaced by an artificial joint, which is cemented into the place, making knee as good as new. About 90 – 95% patients with painful & stiff knees have very good outcome after surgery and are helped to walk within 48 – 72 hrs. with support.
Total Knee Replacement brings freedom of movement by getting relief from perpetual pain & stiffness, correction of deformity and obviating the need of support like walker or wheel chair for ambulation, and allows patients to resume their daily activities, which were often put on hold because of severe arthritis.Find Out More
Broadly speaking a knee replacement surgery can be carried out either through the traditional approach, or newer minimally invasive approach (MIS), also known as quadriceps-sparing approach.
It allows surgeons to insert the same artificial implant through a shorter incision.
This surgical approach avoids trauma to the quadriceps muscle, which is the most important muscle group around the knee, thereby allowing quicker recovery time including walking and knee bending movements.
The less-traumatic nature of the surgical approach may also reduce post-operative pain and diminish the need for rehab and therapy compared to more traditional approaches.Find Out More

Shoulder replacement is a surgical procedure in which all or part of the glenohumeral joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant. Such joint replacement surgery generally is conducted to relieve arthritis pain or fix severe physical joint damage.
In shoulder replacement surgery, the damaged parts of the shoulder are removed and replaced with artificial components, called a prosthesis.
Several conditions can cause shoulder pain and disability, and lead patients to consider shoulder joint replacement surgery.Find Out More
Orthopedic trauma is a severe injury to part of the musculoskeletal system, and often the result of a sudden accident requiring immediate medical attention. While not all orthopedic trauma is life-threatening, it is life altering. Many orthopaedic specialists specialize in just one body part.
Trauma and orthopaedic surgeons diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. This includes bones and joints and their associated structures that enable movement – ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves. Trauma and orthopaedic surgery is often abbreviated to T& O surgery..
